View from the headland. Nice but a bit public to operate from.
Drove into the picnic area. Lots of nice open grassy spots for a station. Found a nice secluded area. The picnic tables were not good for mounting a squid pole to so used my own...
Operating spot. Map from Protected Planet
Shack on the table
Got on 40 m. Fairly quiet as a week day. Still a steady flow of callers

Saw a spot on ParksnPeaks that VK5BJE John could not hear me on 40 m. So went to 20 m and worked him easily with a 52 signal. No other calls though on this band.
Added in the 80 m extension wires and gave this band a go. 2 more contacts
VK2LEE Lee in nearby Scone, very strong.

Packed up and headed for my next stop, North Brother SOTA summit.
Hi Ian
ReplyDeleteThanks for the change of band. It often means getting a contact rather than missing out. I like your photos.

Thanks John. Yes with propagation poor I need to use 20 and 80 m to fill the gaps... 40 m is not reliable. 73 Ian
