The road is unsealed by okay from 2WD vehicles. Entered New England National Park.
Not far into the park entered low lying cloud, the temperature dropped remarkably to around 8c, cold for Spring...Before Point Lookout took a Management road, that ended at a locked gate. Parked here and started walking.
About a Km to the summit. Easy walking along the road.
The road climbs and bends around to the right heading for the summit. Quite mossy, must be a high rainfall area.
Reached the summit, an Air Services Australia site.
Set up the squid pole on a stump on the side of the road dipole legs to a couple of trees. Plenty of room.
Looking back down the road
SOTA shack on the side of the road.
Got on 20 m first. Worked VK5WG first before and after UTC, as I had got on air a few minutes before change. Went to 40m, worked 10 more chasers with good signals from the VK2s. Switched to 20 m, worked VK3DET, VK3PF/m and VK3CAT/m with good signals.
Packed up and headed back to the car. As quite close to Point Lookout went for a look. Nice cool temperate rain forest, mossy branches.
Still too foggy to get a good view, some of it visible. A long way down...
Track profile. A 1.1 Km walk with a 45 m climb.
