Another award from the FT8 Digital Mode Club, worked 30 Chinese Prefixes. Mainly from new contacts into China on 20m.

West Jerrabomberra Nature Reserve VKFF-0993

The weather on Friday was not too bad, sunny and around 19c, so decided to activate a WWFF park. Chose West Jerrabomberra Nature Reserve, VKFF-0993. I had lunch at Chisholm not far away.

Pulled into a road off the Monaro Hwy just past Lanyon Drive. It is actually a road to a private property, but enough room to park off the side of the road before the gate. A gate into the reserve nearby. The name for this reserve does seem to vary, the old sign on the gate has it as Jerrabomberra Grasslands Nature Reserve. The sign inside states Jerrabomberra West Grasslands Nature Reserve. Google maps has West Jerrabomberra Nature Reserve.

Tried 20m. A bit early for EU, but worked VK4HAT, VK1ACE.

Made 25 contacts, with 2 other activations over the 44 needed to complete the park for WWFF.

Packed up and headed home before peak hour traffic started.

50 Canadian Stations Award

As per my last post have been working some new Canadian Provinces lately. Checking my awards in UAAC, found I had another award for working 50 Canadian stations.

Canadian Provinces

I recently worked a new Canadian Province, Yukon, on 10m I contacted VY1MB in Whitehorse Yukon.

Decided to check on how many Canadian Provinces I need to get to have contacted them all. In Log4OM I created an award to display this. It uses the QSO State code to work out the Providences.

So I need 3 more Canadian Provinces to have worked them all.

Newfoundland-Labrador province is in the far Eastern corner of Canada, a long way from Australia...

Nunavut is a large sparsely populated providence in the far NE of Canada, imagine not many hams.

Prince Edward providence is a large island off the Canadian East coast. One I might possibly work.

There is no award for contacting them all that I know of, just something to try for.

Justice Robert Hope Park VKFF-3181

Wednesday was a nice warm day, with a top around 23c, so figured a good day to do another WWFF park activation. Returned to finish Justice Robert Hope Park, VKFF-3181. Last activation made 33 contacts, so another 11 needed for the 44.

Parked off Antill St Watson near the park entrance and sign.

Last activation I activated not far from the gate, this time wanted to take a look deeper into the reserve so wandered down the tracks. Spotted a shingleback lizard in the grass.

Found a log suitable for operating from and squid pole support.

Checked the antenna with the analyser, quite good, resonant at 7.141 Mhz.

Got on 40m on 7.144 Mhz. After spotting on ParksnPeaks got a steady stream of park hunters.

VK3SQ, VK3VIN, VK3PF, VK2MET/VK1AO, VK2IO, VK5PAS, VK3ACZ, VK2HHA, VK3YV, VK4TJ.

Tried going to 20m, no answers, probably a bit early in the afternoon for Europe.

Saw a spot for a SOTA activation on 7.090, so returned to work VK7HAM Rod on VK7/NE-018 Mount Littlechild.

Had 12 QSOs so park completed for WWFF. Packed up and headed home.

Worked all Rhode Island RI Counties

Been working a lot of US stations recently on 10m FT8, and after checking in the QRZ.com counties award, found I have now worked all the 5 Rhode Island, RI counties.

Washington county was the last. I now have DE, RI and HI all counties confirmed

These are all small states though, the other bigger states will take ages to complete, if at all :(
